Publication ethics 

The Editorial Board of the  journal «Chemical Physics and Mesoscopy» observes the principles of publication ethics adopted by the international community, based on the recommendations and standards developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and includes the obligations of authors, reviewers and members of the Editorial Board.

Ethical publication standards are essential to ensure high quality of scientific publications and public trust to the scientific researches. Abidance of the ethical publication rules by all participants helps to ensure the rights of authors to intellectual property, to improve the quality of publication and exclude the possibility of wrongful use of copyright materials in the interests of individuals.


– The authors (or a group of authors) by submitting materials to the scientific journal «Chemical Physics and Mesoscopy» are responsible for the novelty and reliability of the research results, therefore, manuscripts must contain verified and accurate data.

– Authors must guarantee that the research results presented in the submitted manuscript are completely original. It is necessary to draw up the links properly, including own previously published articles and research materials. Duplication of publications, the use of a manuscript that was sent to another journal and is under consideration is not allowed.

– Authors should use only original facts and information in the manuscript, obtained by methods of scientific research; they should prevent fabrication and falsification of data.

– Authors must observe ethical standards, when they criticize or comment on third party researches.

– All persons who have made a significant contribution to the research should be indicated as co-authors of the article. If any person has participated in a significant part of the project, then he should be expressed appreciation, or he should be noted as a person who made a significant contribution to the research. It is unallowable to indicate persons among the co-authors who did not participate in the study.

– Authors must submit and prepare the manuscript in accordance with the rules adopted in the journal. 

– If the author discovers significant mistakes or inaccuracies in the article at the stage of its consideration or after its publication, he is obliged to notify the Editorial Board of the journal immediately.

– Authors should respect the work of the Editorial Board and reviewers and promptly eliminate the indicated shortcomings or explain them reasonably.

– Authors must provide the Editorial Board or publisher with proof of the correctness of the article, or he must correct the mistakes if the Editorial Board or publisher becomes aware of them from third parties.


– The Editorial Board ensures the confidentiality of the manuscript received from the authors and any information until the moment of its publication.

– The Editorial Board gets acquainted with all the manuscripts received by the editorial office.

– The manuscript may be rejected by the Chief Editor at the stage preceding the peer review, if there is a solid reason (it was drawn up in violation of the Rules adopted in the journal, the subject of the article does not correspond to the subject of the journal; the article is obviously of low scientific quality; the article was previously published in another edition; a fundamental contradiction to the main provisions of publication ethics), or require the author to complete it.  

– All submitted manuscripts, which were not rejected for the above reasons at the first stage of consideration, are sent for reviewing to one or two reviewers, selecting them from among the most competent specialists on the subject of the article.

– If there is a conflict of interest between the reviewers and the author of the article, the article is transferred to other reviewers.

– The Editorial Board should take great pains to ensure the anonymity of the review, authors should not be provided with the names of the reviewers of the manuscript.

– The Chief Editor makes the final decision on the publication of the manuscript, based on the reviews of the reviewers.

– The Editorial Board must guarantee the high quality of the materials published in the journal and their content integrity, as well as, if necessary, publish corrections, explanations, apologies.

– If there are content, grammatical, stylistic and other mistakes, the Editorial Board is obliged to take all measures to eliminate them.

– To coordinate the editorial proofs introduced into the article with the author.

– To post information about the financial support of the research if the author gives such information to the article.


– Reviewers must make objective and impartial decisions. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable.

– Reviewers make decisions based on specific facts and provide evidence of their decision;

– The reviewer is obliged to keep confidentiality. Confidential information or ideas gleaned by the reviewers from the manuscript accepted for consideration are not subject to disclosure and use for personal purposes. Discussion of the work with other persons is not allowed, except for persons authorized by the Chief Editor to work with the author’s manuscript.

– To inform the Chief Editor and refuse of the manuscript examination’s process if, in the opinion of the reviewer, his qualifications are insufficient for consideration of the material submitted for review, or in the case when there is a possible conflict of interest of a scientific or material nature with the author of the manuscript.

– Reviewers should draw the Chief Editor’s attention to the discovery of significant similarities or coincidences between the manuscript which is under examination and any other published work known to the reviewers, as well as the fact that there are no references to statements, conclusions or arguments previously published in other works of this or other authors.

– Reviewers assist the author in improving the quality of the article.


Withdrawing text from a publication is a mechanism for correcting published information and notifying readers that the publication contains serious shortcomings or erroneous data that cannot be trusted.

Reasons for withdrawal:

– detection of incorrect borrowings (plagiarism) in the publication;

– duplication of an article in several editions;

– detection of falsifications or fabrications in the article;

– detection of serious mistakes in the article (for example, misinterpretation of the results), which casts doubt on its scientific value;

– incorrect list of authors (there is no one who deserves to be an author; persons who do not meet the criteria for authorship are included);

– hidden conflict of interest (and other violations of publication ethics);

– republishing of the article without the author’s consent;

– the article did not go through the peer review procedure.

The standards for working with retractions have been developed by a number of library and scientific organizations (ANRI https://rassep.ru/), and this practice is used by the Editorial Board of the journal. The Editorial Board indicates the reason for the retraction as well as the date of it. The article and the description of it remain on the journal’s website as part of the corresponding issue of the journal, but the inscription ОТОЗВАНА/RETRACTED and the retraction date are applied to the electronic version of the text, the same mark is placed with the article in the issue’s list of contents.

Information on the withdrawal of the article is provided to the Council for Ethics of Scientific Publications and the scientific information base (National Electronic Library, CyberLeninka) as well as to the database of retracted articles (https://rassep.ru/retracted/)
